The Digital SAT, administered by College Board – USA, is a modernized version of traditional SAT, designed to better reflect today’s digital world and academic requirements. The test mainly focuses on Reasoning and critical thinking skills developed by students throughout their schooling in both English and Math.
Even though some universities in the UAE take their own entrance test for college admission, but the SAT test scores remains a key requirement for most of the college’s applications and other purposes in the UAE.

1. To issue an equivalency certificate
After completing grade 12 (or year 13), students who studied international curriculum in the UAE or abroad has to issue an equivalency certificate from the Ministry of Education UAE.
An Equivalency certificate is a document issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE) for the students for academic and employment purposes. This certificate confirms the equivalency of foreign educational credentials meet the MoE’s educational standard. Equivalency certificate is crucial for various purposes such as employment and higher education admissions.
Requirements for the equivalency certificate depends on the curriculum students studied in the schools.
Documents requirement by American curriculum students:
To issue an equivalency certificate, American Curriculum students must submit following documents
- Certificate of language proficiency – students can take either IELTS Academic test and score at least 5.0 and more or TOEFL iBT test with a score of 61 or more.
- SAT Math section score of 450 or higher is required
- Graduation certificate from the school
- Transcripts of grade 10, grade 11, and grade 12.
- Students are also required to pass at least 5 approved subjects by the MoE.
Documents requirement by non-American curriculum students
To issue equivalency certificate, taking SAT and Language proficiency test for non-American curriculum is optional, but having scores of both SAT and IELTS or TOEFL are advantageous.
Students who studied non-American curriculum such as British Curriculum, IB, Canadian curriculum, Australia Curriculum, Russian Curriculum, Indian and Pakistani curriculum, Iranian Curriculum must have following documents:
- Graduation (or Diploma) certificate
- Transcripts of grade 10, grade 11, and grade 12 or equivalent certificates

Once the application is submitted, MoE will issue certificate within 3 to 5 working days or more depending on approval of documents.

2. University Admission Acceptance
Most colleges and universities in the UAE consider the SAT test score as part of their admission process as the Digital SAT test score helps to demonstrate a student’s knowledge in areas, like reading, writing, and math. Regardless of the curriculum studied by student, it is advantageous to have SAT and IELTS test score for college admissions. Universities like Khalifa University Abu Dhabi, NYU Abu Dhabi, AUS, AUD, RIT, Middlesex, University of Wollongong in Dubai, Canadian University etc., require a descent score in the SAT test score for admission acceptance.
SAT test score requirement depends on the type of university and the major subject’s student choose for higher studies. Most of universities consider an average score of 1050 and above (English: 500+ and Math: 550 + ) out of 1600.

Some scholarship provider asks specifically only digital SAT math score of 650+ and other asks combined score of 1300+.
